Coronavirus Apps: how to guarantee privacy
European Union is working together with Member States in order to develop solutions for the problems with Covid-tracking apps. The Commission recommends taking a common approach in order to make the apps effectively reduce the cases and guarantee the privacy of the users at the same time. As apps are not obligatory to use, it is supposed that every user consents the use of their data to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Also, apps should include cancelation clauses so data stops to be processed once pandemic is over. According to EU, it is prefered to use apps based on bluetooth, rather tan on geolocalization, that can alarm users that have been in contact with an infected person during a certain time. People are worried that their confidential data, such as location and a possible Covid-19 infection may be exposed.
